Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, children’s services and skills. They report directly to Parliament and are independent and impartial. They regulate and inspect services which care for children, and those providing education and skills for learners of all ages.
EYFS is the Government and early years professionals describe the times your child’s life between birth and age 5.
This is a very important stage in your child’s life, it helps them prepare for school, as well as preparing them for their future learning. From when your child is born up until the age of 5 their early experiences should be happy, active, exciting, secure and filled with fun. This will support their development, care and learning needs.
Why do we have EYFS?
The EYFS framework exists to support all professional working in the EYFS to help your child. The framework now has a greater importance on the emphasis on your role. It sets out the legal welfare requirements that everyone registered to look after children must follow to keep your child safe and promote their welfare.

The 3 prime areas begin to develop quickly in response to relationships and experience these run through and support leaning in all other areas of development. The prime areas continue to be fundamental throughout the EYFS.
The specific areas include essential skills and knowledge that your child will need as they grow and develop.
